Our European Holiday - Manchester

Thursday May 8 - Manchester     - Leigh
Kaye caught the Metrolink to Old Trafford this morning to do the Manchester United Football Club tour so I stayed back at the hotel and started creating the structure for this weblog.

After breakfast, I went for a walk up to Picadilly Gardens to find Timpson (a shoe repair / key cutting / etc shop) to get the straps on my backpack repaired (the stitching had started to come apart on one of the straps).

Why Timpson? Well, last night at the bar (while sampling yet more foreign beer) I bumped into a crowd of folks who were celebrating something - I got talking to one of them and it turned out they were all employees of Timpson. One of them bought me a pint, so I repaid the gesture by using their services this morning :)

In the afternoon Kaye and I caught a Metrolink out to Salford Quays waterways to see The Lowry and the Designer Outlet shoppnig centre (factory outlets of various retail manufacturers).

I bought a new carry travel case with wheels (the carry on luggage I had was too awkward) and Kaye bought a trolly for her carry on case.

I stumbled upon yet more pooh stuff for Pauline, so I took a pic of it too :)

More pooh!

After we were all shopped out, we stopped for a Baskin and Robins ice cream and were treated to the worst tasting fudge sauce ever - it smelt and tasted like burnt tar, not impressed!

Yuk, second worst ice cream experience ever! The worst ever was when I was 4 years old and my darling sister told me golden syrup was just as nice as chocolate sauce on ice cream...

The rest of the day was spent geeking out getting this weblog going, while Kaye spent some time organsing more holiday things in the room.
