Tuesday June 10 - Kaye
Kaye plays the typical tourist …
Today, Leigh decided to play hooky and rest at home so I ventured forth to play tourist at some of the best-known sites in the south west of London. I began with a tube ride to Hyde Park Corner and a wander around Wellington’s Arch and the statue of Wellington on his horse.

Then I took a meander down Constitution Avenue which runs alongside Green Park and ends at Buckingham Palace. After snapping some pics of the Palace and Queen Victoria Memorial I sat down and waited for the changing of the guard which seemed to take forever.

From there, I walked along Buckingham Gate to the Royal Mews and had a chat with the royal horses and their trainers and a close up view of some of the royal carriages and a Rolls Royce.

Through the back streets to Victoria Street and Westminster R C Cathedral which has a very tall tower and was Margaret friendly with its red and white stripes.

Along Victoria Street to Westminster Abbey, the Chapter House and the Jewel Tower. I must admit I have seen nicer cathedrals than Westminster Abbey in my time in the UK, it sort of didn’t live up to expectations. I prefer St Paul’s so I’m not surprise Diana was married there and not here.

Next came the Houses of Parliament, Parliament Square (with its statue of Churchill), Big Ben, Treasury, Cabinet War Rooms, Cenotaph, Downing Street, Horse Guards Parade and the Banqueting House.

Finally towards Trafalgar Square and to Charing Cross Station for the tube ride home.
